Monitor conditions.
We inspect every refurbished monitor individually and honestly, screen first. Read which conditions we use and how we reach our verdict.

Which condition suits you?
As new
For those who want a flawless picture
No marks on the screen, on or off, and virtually none on the bezel and base. Choose As new if you look at your monitor all day and want nothing to distract you.
Excellent
A crisp picture at a friendlier price
With the screen off you might see a very faint streak; with it on, nothing. Bezel and base are neat. The condition most of our customers choose.
Good
The most screen for your money
Marks on screen and housing are more noticeable, picture quality and ports work as they should. Ideal as a second screen or for a hot desk.
How we assess a monitor
The whole monitor determines the condition
A monitor can have a flawless screen and still one clearly visible sign of use, for example a scratch on the base or damage to the bezel.
We factor such a mark into our verdict on the whole monitor. So we don’t only look at the screen, but at the whole. That way, at Hej Refurbished you know as precisely as possible in advance what you’ll put on your desk.
Every condition works equally well
The condition is only about appearance. Whether you choose As new, Excellent or Good: the monitor must work properly. We never put a monitor in a lower condition because something is broken or doesn’t work.
Condition is about looks, not the picture
Our conditions describe how the monitor looks. A monitor in Good condition may show more signs of use than one in As new condition, but it doesn’t give a lesser picture because of it.
Checked three times before the condition is set
An external partner assesses every monitor before it reaches us. Two colleagues from different departments then each inspect it independently, with the screen on and off. Only after three independent assessments is the condition set.
In doubt? The lower condition
If a monitor sits exactly between two conditions, we choose the lower one. Better a screen that pleasantly surprises you when unboxing than one that disappoints.
Too much damage? Then the part comes out
If damage no longer fits a condition in which we can sell the monitor with confidence, we replace that part, such as the base or stand, wherever technically and practically possible.
So with us, a condition label is never a way to still sell serious damage.
The weakest part decides
A monitor doesn’t get the average of all its parts, but the condition of the part that’s in the worst shape. A single small mark on the screen therefore weighs more than an otherwise flawless base.
We look from 40 centimetres
‘Light signs of use’ can be read in many ways. That’s why we inspect every monitor from a fixed distance of 40 centimetres, closer than you normally sit.
If you can’t see a mark from that distance, it doesn’t count towards the condition. What we can’t see at 40 centimetres, you won’t see at your desk either.
We look at it the way you will
Individual scratches say little. We look at how the monitor appears on your desk and assess the visible parts as a whole.
For a monitor, that’s mainly the screen, the bezel and the base: what you look at every day.
Experience sharpens our judgement
Our team works with business monitors every day, in all sizes. That’s why we assess screens and housings by the same standard every time.
Not every mark is the same
Not every sign of use counts equally. We look at how serious and how visible damage is, and how much it takes away from the monitor’s appearance.
Small marks can add up
A single small mark usually doesn’t change the condition. If several light marks are spread across the monitor, together they can lead to a lower condition. The overall picture decides.
Where a mark sits matters too
It’s not just the size that counts, it’s also the location. A mark on the screen or the front of the bezel stands out more than a similar mark on the back, which faces the wall.
Each device type has its own focus points
With a monitor, the screen comes first, just like with a laptop. We also look at the bezel, the back and the base: the parts you see during normal use.
