Battery condition.
What to expect from the battery of your refurbished device, how we check batteries, and what warranty applies.
How do we check batteries?
Every battery goes through a fixed check with us, from arrival to just before shipping.
Check on arrival
On arrival, we check the battery using the manufacturer's software and diagnostic programs. If in doubt, we also carry out an additional manual check.
Retested before shipping
Just before your laptop is shipped, we test the battery again. This means the battery has been checked again right before it leaves us.
Our minimum standard
80%Every battery is at least 80% when it leaves us. 80% battery capacity means the battery can still store at least 80% of its original design capacity.
That's different from the charge percentage shown on your screen: a battery charged to 100% may, for example, still only have 82% of its original capacity.
Why a battery remains harder to predict
A battery is a wear part: like car tyres, it degrades with use, time and conditions. The displayed battery percentages and battery health remain theoretical values; actual usage time can vary due to factors including age, wear, use and how long a device has been left unused.
We test, you're covered
The warranty means the battery must function, not the exact number of hours it lasts.
Used battery
Every battery is at least 80% when it leaves us, that's our measurement at shipping. If the battery fails within 2 months, or another fault occurs, you're covered by warranty.
New battery
If you choose a new battery, 1 year of warranty applies. A new battery has never been used and has 0 charge cycles. We test every battery with Lenovo diagnostic software, discharge and recharge it to detect issues, and also have it tested by an external partner.
When does battery use fall outside warranty?
Normal battery wear is not covered by warranty. A decrease in battery life due to normal use, age or intensive use is not considered a defect.
If a battery drains faster due to heavy programs, high brightness, video calls, gaming or other intensive use, this is not covered by warranty.
Does your device unexpectedly shut down, or do you suspect something is wrong with the battery? Feel free to contact us. We help you free of charge and work together to find a suitable solution.
