Docking station conditions.
We inspect every refurbished docking station individually and honestly. Read which conditions we use and how we reach our verdict.

Which condition suits you?
As new
For a tidy, clean-looking workspace
Virtually no visible signs of use. A good choice if your dock sits in plain sight on your desk, next to your laptop.
Excellent
Neat, and kinder to your budget
The odd light sign of use, but the housing looks well cared for. The condition most of our customers choose.
Good
Every port at the lowest price
Signs of use are more noticeable, every port works as it should. Smart if your dock disappears behind your screen or under your desk.
How we assess a docking station
The whole dock determines the condition
A docking station can be flawless all round and still have one clearly visible sign of use, for example a scratch on the top or a scuff on the cable.
We factor such a mark into our verdict on the whole dock. So we don’t look at a single side, but at the whole. That way, at Hej Refurbished you know as precisely as possible in advance what you’ll plug in at your desk.
Every condition works equally well
The condition is only about appearance. Whether you choose As new, Excellent or Good: the dock must work properly. We never put a dock in a lower condition because something is broken or doesn’t work.
Condition is about looks, not performance
Our conditions describe how the dock looks. A dock in Good condition may show more signs of use than one in As new condition, but it doesn’t charge or connect any less well because of it.
Checked three times before the condition is set
An external partner assesses every docking station before it reaches us. Two colleagues from different departments then each inspect it independently. Only after three independent assessments is the condition set.
In doubt? The lower condition
If a dock sits exactly between two conditions, we choose the lower one. Better a dock that pleasantly surprises you when unboxing than one that disappoints.
Too much damage? Then the part comes out
If damage no longer fits a condition in which we can sell the dock with confidence, we replace that part wherever technically and practically possible.
So with us, a condition label is never a way to still sell serious damage.
The weakest side decides
A dock doesn’t get the average of all its sides, but the condition of the part that looks the least good. One clear scratch on the top therefore weighs more than an otherwise flawless underside.
We look from 40 centimetres
‘Light signs of use’ can be read in many ways. That’s why we use the same fixed distance for docks as for laptops: 40 centimetres.
If you can’t see a mark from that distance, it doesn’t count towards the condition. This way every colleague assesses every dock the same way.
We look at it the way you will
Individual scratches say little. We look at how the dock appears on your desk and assess the visible sides as a whole.
For a docking station, that’s mainly the top and the side with the ports: the parts you see and use most.
Experience sharpens our judgement
Our team works with business docking stations every day, across different brands and types. That’s why we assess signs of use by the same standard every time.
Not every mark is the same
Not every sign of use counts equally. We look at how serious and how visible damage is, and how much it takes away from the dock’s appearance.
Small marks can add up
A single small mark usually doesn’t change the condition. If several light marks are spread across the dock, together they can lead to a lower condition. The overall picture decides.
Where a mark sits matters too
It’s not just the size that counts, it’s also the location. A scratch on the top stands out more than a similar scratch on the underside, which rests on your desk.
Each device type has its own focus points
A docking station has no screen or keyboard, so we don’t assess those. We focus on the housing, the ports and the cable: the parts you see and touch during normal use.
