Battery condition.

What to expect from the battery of your refurbished device, how we check batteries, and what warranty applies.

How do we check batteries?

Every battery goes through a fixed check with us, from arrival to just before shipping.

1

Check on arrival

On arrival, we check the battery using the manufacturer's software and diagnostic programs. This way we know early in the process whether the battery meets our standard, before the rest of the refurbishment even begins. If in doubt, we also carry out an additional manual check.

2

Retested before shipping

Just before your laptop is shipped, we test the battery again. This is a deliberate extra step, since time can pass between the first check and shipping. This means the battery has been checked again right before it leaves us.

3

Our minimum standard

Every battery has at least 80% battery capacity at shipping: it can still store at least 80% of its original capacity.

That's not the same as the charge percentage on your screen. At 100% charge, a battery may, for example, still only have 82% of its original capacity.

4

Why a battery remains harder to predict

A battery is a wear part, like a car tyre: it degrades through use, time and conditions. The displayed battery percentages are therefore always theoretical values. Actual usage time depends on factors including age, wear, use, and how long a device has been left unused.

80%

We test, you're covered

The warranty means the battery must function, not the exact number of hours it lasts.

2 months

Used battery

Every battery is at least 80% when it leaves us, that's our measurement at shipping. If the battery fails within 2 months, or another fault occurs, you're covered by warranty.

1 year

New battery

If you choose a new battery, 1 year of warranty applies. A new battery has never been used and has 0 charge cycles. We test every battery with Lenovo diagnostic software, discharge and recharge it to detect issues, and also have it tested by an external partner.

When does battery use
fall outside warranty?

Normal battery wear is not covered by warranty. A decrease in battery life due to normal use, age or intensive use is not considered a defect.

If a battery drains faster due to heavy programs, high brightness, video calls, gaming or other intensive use, this is not covered by warranty.

Frequently asked questions
about the battery

1

Am I getting someone else's worn-out battery?

No. Every laptop leaves us with at least 80% of its original battery capacity. If a battery doesn't reach that, we replace it. So you never get a battery we aren't happy with ourselves.

2

How do I know the 80% was actually measured?

We read out the battery with the manufacturer's diagnostic software, not by feel. We do it twice: on arrival and again just before shipping. If we have any doubt, we check it by hand.

3

How long will I get out of a full battery?

That depends on what you do. Email and typing use far less power than video calls or heavy software. That's why we deliberately don't quote a fixed number of hours: a promise we can't keep doesn't help you.

4

What if the battery disappoints me once it arrives?

Then you send the laptop back. You have 30 days to change your mind, starting the day after you receive it. If the battery is your only doubt, email us first. We usually sort it out together.

5

What if the battery gives up quickly?

A used battery comes with 2 months of warranty, a new battery with 1 year. If the battery fails in that time, we sort it out. The warranty covers the battery working, not a fixed number of hours.

6

Does the battery wear out faster because the laptop is refurbished?

No. A battery wears from charge cycles and heat. Whatever happened before you shows up in that percentage. From there, your own use decides how long it lasts.

7

Can I do anything myself to keep the battery healthy?

A little, yes. Don't leave it at 100% on the charger for days on end, and don't run it all the way down every time either. Somewhere between 20% and 80% is easiest on it. Beyond that, nothing special is needed.

8

Can I have a new battery fitted later?

Yes. You can choose a new battery when you order, and years later you can still have it replaced by us. So your laptop isn't written off as soon as the battery weakens.

Need a new battery?

A new battery is available in the webshop as an option with your laptop. Later on, you can also have your laptop fitted with a new battery by us. Send us an email and we’re happy to think along with you.
